Was Miss Haiti Universe 1975 and also the 1st runner-up in MU 1975, she did not win the crown because Anne Marie Pothamo of Finland got 1 more point in the scores. She was the 2nd black woman earning that position in MU, the 1st one was Miss Curazao Universe 1968..

Gerthie was very elegant and sophisticated.  
She was also a role model to young haitians girls.
