Amelia was born Victoria Amelia Vega Polanco on November 7th, 1984 in Santo Domingo, DR.
She is the 1st and only dominican woman to be named MISS UNIVERSE in 2003. She also won the National Costume Award and she stands 6'1", her father is a prominent doctor in the USA and her mother is a pilot and was Miss Dom. Rep. World 1980, she is also the niece of famous dominican merengue singer Juan Luis Guerra.

Amelia married in 2011 dominican NBA player Atlanta Hawks, Al Horford.

She was the 1st Miss Universe I've ever seen crowned, she basically introduced me to Miss Universe! I remember my family dragging me to watch it and after they called her into the Top 15 (the 1st time I saw her) I knew she would win! I love her so much and she's one of the best Miss Universes ever!

She was chosen because she is Donald Trump's all time favorite Miss Universe titleholder, he mentioned that in one of his books.

Happy Anniversary to my dear Amelia, today 11 years ago she was crowned Miss Universe 2003.
She still remains as the only dominican with that title, and also she remains as the tallest MU titleholder. amour
