	Regional Director Julie Nauche is happy because the casting held last January at Saint-Denis was a huge success. Nearly 50 young women responded to the casting call organized by the organizing committee for the third edition of the beauty pageant. The first edition was held in 2012 were we saw, Aïssa Valy from Entre-Deux, dedication to her title. In 2013, Christelle Abrantès of Saint-Pierre won the crown. This time around, who will succeed Christelle? Will the crown remain in the South? The answer will be revealed on April 12th to be held at Nordev in Saint-Denis. 	And then there were 16: Contestants for Miss Earth Switzerland 2014 revealed. They came from 16 cantons from all over the country but only one will wear the crown on April 26th. 283 young women registered for the competition. That is more than ever in almost 10 ten year history of the competition under the motto "Beauties for a Cause" stated by the organizers. 42 candidates were shortlisted, now only 16 left will vie for the crown. The winner will be chosen by a nine-member jury. The finals will take place at the environment friendly Umwelt Arena in Spreitenbach. The arena is powered by 100% solar energy. 	The candidates of Miss Earth Réunion 2014 were at "Les Jacarandas" primary school in Sainte-Clotilde to educate young students on how to be an eco-citizen through fun workshops that teaches sustainable development and recycling. The day ended with a tree planting activity and snacks which the students really enjoyed learning from these women that makes them good ambassadors for nature. 	Last night the preliminary for Miss Earth Bosnia & Herzegovina 2014 was held. Among the girls, 7 secured their spot in the national finals. The girls were: Alma Nuhanović, Almis Mesihović, Ajla Mrehić, Bogdana Trifković, Bojana Lazić, Amra Branković and Ana Šego. Djevojke. The preliminary has three rounds; the girls competed in casual attire, swimsuits and evening gown in which were provided by the pageant's sponsors. Prior to this, another preliminary was held in Banja Luka where 5 girls made it to the finals. The national competition will officially begin on April and from then on, each succeeding months, the contestants will be subjected to various activities and appearances leading up to the coronation. 	April 26th is the final of Miss Earth Switzerland 2014 in Spreitenbach and 17 year old Svenja Albrecht from Velbella might be the one to take home the crown according to the Grisons Daily Paper. The lone finalist from the Alps is thrilled to be in the competition that combines beauty and environment. "The Miss Earth Switzerland contest is not just about physical beauty", says Albrecht. The organization's slogan is "Beauty for a Cause". The young women in this competition are valued not just because of their appearance and charisma but also the humanitarian and environmental efforts they are doing. The main goal of the winner is to collect donations and raised funds in her one year in office. In her personal effort, Albrecht tries to save the environment in her own little way. "I try not to consume too much water while taking a shower and I dispose PET bottles (bottles made from Polyethylene terephthalate) properly by putting them in recycle bins". 	Global Economics and Modern Languages student Emily Vanhoutte from West Flanders took time off from her busy schedule to visit The Ark of Pollare, a shelter for farm animals last Saturday, March 22nd. This summer, the Miss Exclusive Organization will have a photo shoot in Pollare with the 2015 finalists featuring the farm animals. 	It was a special evening last night at Les Bains de Minuit where 14 contestants of Miss Earth Réunion 2014 was presented to the press. According to Julie Nauche, Regional Director of Miss Earth Indian Ocean, the finals will be a grand event: "All the girls are beautiful, it will be hard to choose who will be the winner..." The girls paraded in a fashion show wearing clothes from Sabey de Sabeykarathy Création made from recycled materials. Who will suceed Christelle Abrantes on April 12th?
