	The Miss Earth Hawaii beauty pageant has much of the same glamour and glitz of other competitions with contestants strutting across the stage in swimsuits and evening gowns. But they must also spend three minutes talking about the environment and adopt an environmental platform. “We’re really looking for an ambassador for the environment, a beautiful female who cares about where she lives as far as her natural environment,” said pageant director Aureana Tseu, the 2009 Miss Hawaii USA, who knows a little something about pageants. Honolulu will host the Miss Earth USA pageant for the first time Sept. 1 at the Ala Moana Hotel. The event is expected to attract 30 contestants from across the nation. Earlier that day a dozen or so Hawaii contestants will vie for the title of Miss Earth Hawaii, the first time the islands are participating in the Miss Earth pageant. The newly crowned Miss Earth Hawaii, along with four others to be selected Miss Air Hawaii, Miss Water Hawaii, Miss Fire Hawaii and Miss Eco Hawaii, will go on to compete in the national pageant that evening. 	Sobhita Dhulipala, Femina Miss India Earth 2013, is quite happy to be walking the ramp at the ongoing Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013. As she talks to us, her hair's being piled high on her head as part of the look for the show she's about to walk for, and she holds it and groans, "Oh, this hurts," but insists she is enjoying all this. "This is my first full-fledged fashion show. It's fab, it's like a dream come true, because I really love fashion, it's artistic and one can express one's emotions through clothes - that appeals to me," she says. She has also never been to Delhi before, so that's adding to the experience, she says. "I am an out-and-out south Indian, so I have absolutely no idea of anything in north India. But I like it - what I have seen of this city. I used to think it is very formal and cliched, but I have realized it's not. And I love the accent of the Delhi people," says Sobhita, who also told us she's currently pursuing law as the chat veered towards studies. From the age of 15 I started in modeling when I did a commercial for a refreshing drink. I think every facet in which I have developed my experience and growth have given me satisfaction. I started as a model, then as a entertainer and now as an actress. The best times were when I was Miss Earth in 2005 and 2006 because traveled to 25 countries. I think the fact that knowing so many cultures in a short time is amazing. What was your best moment in your professional life? When I was asked to star in the movie "Till death do us Part", directed by Abraham Pulido. It was great. Being the star and filming the movie is a wonderful challenge and I'm very grateful for that. You've also dabbled in making fashion accessories, where did get that idea? My grandfather was a goldsmith, always devoted to jewelry and painting. He always made small accessories at home and in the workshop. Her dad Peter has organised the day to raise much-needed funds for family friend Vicki Caughlan who had a leg amputated after breaking her back in five places in a trail bike accident in 2010. Colyton artist and designer Robyn Caughlan set up Out On A Limb With Vicki Inc to raise funds for her daughter as a part of her ongoing rehabilitation. Vicki needs a new prosthetic leg fitted, which costs up to $80,000. "If you can give your time freely, it would be a good cause," Ms Caughlan said. "It's an amazing golf course so it's an honour to be allowed to play there. It will be exciting for Vicki, who will be there, too." Eight groups of four have registered but an additional 11 are needed. 	Since earlier this year, Tereza Fajksová, has been traveling around the world as part of her job as the reigning Miss Earth. She flew so many miles now that it equals to one and half circumference of the globe. If this continues on, it will reach to the equivalent of Earth's circumference twice but sometimes going to foreign countries is not a piece of cake. Fajksová journey started when she was crowned Blesk Česká Miss Earth at the conclusion of the 2012 national pageant and since then she's been busy doing activities that comes with her title and more so now that she won the Miss Earth 2012 crown, her schedule as been very hectic and demanding. So far the scariest experienced for Fajksová was in Ghana for the fear of getting malaria from mosquito bites which she did and luckily she have with her anti malaria drugs. For the girl from the small village of Ivancice in the Czech Republic, it meant a great deal to be crowned as Miss Earth 2012. The emotions were overwhelming and 24-year-old Tereza Fajksova even tripped and stumbled after receiving her crown, at the 12th pageant held in Muntinlupa City, Philippines. But it was by no means an inauspicious start to her journey, as she has become a well-loved ambassador of environmental conservation across the world, living up to the motto of the pageant – “Beauties for a cause”. It’s a herculean task to look past her enchanting blue eyes and natural blonde hair, but once you do so, you realize that her beauty is not only skin deep . Her beauty comes from within, seasoned by a passion for protecting the environment. “The people of my village are very close to nature, and it’s only natural that I have a great liking towards the environment,” Tereza tells us. “It’s an amazing feeling to be crowned for what you love doing.” Tereza is nearing the end of her title year as Miss Earth, and has traveled all over the world, spreading the message of conservation. In Sri Lanka last week, she voiced the need to protect what we have and took part in an Earth Walk to mark her visit, while raising awareness at the events she attended.
